Software

SOP

Sound On Picture. The software we built on our own engine for putting sound on picture.

The SOP window: transport across the top, sound library on the left, the picture locked to 16:9 in the middle, clip settings on the right, and five tracks of waveforms along the bottom.

A real session: THE REPAIR 30s, five tracks, thirty four seconds.

Two things, one job

AAPE is the engine. SOP is the software AAP built on it. The engine cleans, isolates, aligns, measures and separates. The software is where a person sits and decides what happens against the picture.

It is not a music DAW with a video window bolted on the side. The nearest thing in another field is the middleware a game studio uses, FMOD or Wwise: sound organised around what is happening rather than around bars and beats. A film has the same problem and no equivalent tool, so we built one.

What is in it

Find

The library, by description

Ask for rain on pavement and get the takes that are rain on pavement. Thousands of files, searched by what they sound like rather than by what somebody named the file.

Loop

Any length, no seam

A twenty second recording rebuilt to sixty by rearranging its own portions. Not the same twenty seconds three times, and no audible join where it wraps.

Reshape

Time and pitch

Stretch a take to the length the picture needs, move it in semitones, or redesign it into something the frame implies and no recording exists for.

Clean

Repair, in the right order

De-hum first, every time. Then the background lifted out, then the voice isolated and refined. The order is not a preference, it is what stops a repair taking the voice with the noise.

Tracks

A desk, not a wizard

One strip per layer with mute, solo and gain, clips with their own start, length and fades, and a playhead against the picture. Every number is visible and every one of them can be moved.

Deliver

Render and separate

The mix to a loudness target for wherever it is going, and every track exported on its own, which is why a wrong sound is ten seconds of muting rather than a refund.

Not out yet

SOP goes on sale in September 2026.

There is nothing to download here today, and until then it is what your project is made in, by us.

Road map

  1. 01

    Now

The desk, in daily use on real jobs. Find a sound by describing it, rebuild it to any length without a seam, reshape it in time and pitch, clean it in the right order, place it against picture, and export every track on its own.

  2. 02

    September 2026

    SOP goes on sale.

  3. 03

    After launch

Automatic placement. The engine already finds an impact in a shot and puts the sound on the frame it happens on. The work is widening that from impacts to more of what a shot actually contains.

  4. 04

    Later

A hosted version, so a cut can be sent in and worked on with nothing installed.
